Places to Volunteer

Volunteers are the heart of Habitat Tuscaloosa. Almost every day they pound a nail or paint a wall. They work on a new home, repair an older home in need of improvement, help in our office, or our Restore. No matter where you want to volunteer or where your skills and talents lie, we've got a place for you.

Construction

Our construction volunteers are critical to our success. We can utilize highly-skilled volunteers that want to donate a day or a week to help us build or rehab a home. There are specialized opportunities to learn some new skills in interior finishing and cabinet making. But no construction experience is necessary because we are well-known for our ability to take inexperienced volunteers and get the job done!

Non-Construction

There are numerous opportunities to serve outside the construction area. We can always use help around the office and in Restore. Our non-construction volunteers are a critical part in our organization.

Volunteer Housing

HFHT is proud to offer our volunteers housing at Camp Y's Acres. Our camp is convienently located 5 miles from the center of Tuscaloosa in Cottondale. The facility is bunk style housing with a dinning hall and bath house. It sits on a large acreage with hiking trails, athletic fields, and a basketball court. The cost is $30 a night per person ($150 for a five day week). This includes breakfast and lunch 5 days a week and dinner for 4 nights allowing groups to go out and experience some of our great local food. Ribs and BBQ anyone? To schedule a reservation please contact our Volunteer Coordinator Jared Patterson at 205-349-4620 Ext. 110. For more information and pictures Click Here
